Magic Product Updates: July Edition

What’s new with Magic?

This month has been full of exciting momentum, so let’s dive right in!

In this post, I’ll cover the latest highlights and improvements.

#🚀 Series A

Last week, we announced that Magic has closed a $27M Series A funding round to future-proof authentication!

Our leading investor, Northzone, also participated in our seed round. To-date, we’ve raised $31M from institutional investors including Tiger Global, Placeholder, SV Angel, Digital Currency Group, CoinFund, and Cherubic . In addition, our network of stellar angel investors has expanded to reflect exceptional founders and operators across tech, developer-first tools, crypto, design software, social media, creator platforms, and more.

Our CEO, Sean, goes into the details of what this all means in his latest post.

With the need for cybersecurity and a seamless onboarding experience growing more important each day, our vision to build the passport of the internet is clearer than ever. Overall, we’re grateful for the support and motivated by the new challenges.

#✨ Magic community

Big shout-out to everyone who’s been building with Magic since day one, and also those who have joined us recently. Community is a core part of what makes Magic what it is today and will continue to be integral as we head into the next chapter.

Our team is focused on making the developer experience top-notch.

With that, here are some of the most recent product updates.

We made some key upgrades to our search bar, so it’s easier to find the guides you’re looking for.

Check out our newest templates and tutorials:

Kudos to Sean Mullen, who created the Svelte guide as our first guest author! For anyone who wants to write for Magic, tell us more about the tutorial you’d like to create by completing this form.

We also want to provide more insight into the cutting-edge trends in development. That’s why we’re creating the space to connect with and learn from thought leaders.

For our latest Close-up Magic meetup, we welcomed Jason Lengstorf, VP of Developer Experience at Netlify to talk about:

  • What inspired him to start developing using the Jamstack architecture
  • How companies of all sizes can adopt Jamstack
  • His #1 suggestion for someone starting out in Developer Relations

In case you missed it, here’s the Twitter Spaces recording.

Next up, we’re inviting Praveen Durairaju, Sr. Developer Advocate at Hasura, to chat with us about his experience pre- and post-Hasura days.

If you’re curious about what it’s like building a backend with GraphQL and a database from scratch vs. The Hasura Way, this meetup is for you.

Save your spot early and sign up here.

#👋 Join us on Discord

Did you know the Magic community has a Discord server? It’s a new spot for us to gather to chat, as well as help answer any questions you might have.

Whether you’re a developer or just keen to join the discussion on auth, decentralized identity, or other modern infra like blockchain — come and say hi!

#🔮 The future

Magic passwordless auth — with future-proof identity tech under the hood — will be made possible for developers right out-of-the-box. That means everyone on the planet could sign up and login to apps with decentralized user identity, improving trust for the internet at large.

This is just the start of our exciting journey ahead.

P.S. We’re hiring! If you’re keen to help build a safer, more authentic internet, join us.

Let's make some magic!
